Writer
Florence Skelton writes about women, bodies, sex and relationships, often through a dark comedy lens (albeit sometimes, it’s just dark). Inspired by shows such as Girls, The Dry, Pure, and Bad Sisters, she is currently working on several original projects, and often collaborates with Hannah van der Westhuysen.
Florence studied screenwriting at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), and her first feature script was runner up for the Watersprite Film Festival’s Writing for Screen Award.
She writes romantic audio fiction for Calm, the latest volume of which is narrated by actor Andrew Scott. She also writes erotic audio fiction for Dipsea.
Florence began her career as a production assistant for the likes of BBC, Ridley Scott Associates and 2LE Media before moving into writing. As a journalist, she has covered art, culture, film, sex and gender for publications like Dazed, i-D, AnOther, British Journal of Photography and Refinery29. As a cultural critic, she has been invited to speak at London Metropolitan University and Belfast Photo Festival (where she delivered the headline talk on the “female gaze”), and to pen a culture column for ITV platform Woo.
