Charlotte Essex is a screenwriter with a background in production. Her spec script Contraband was a BAFTA Rocliffe Drama finalist and was shortlisted for C21. Charlotte’s debut play, The Fading Hum, was nominated for a MEN award. She cut her teeth screenwriting on Doctors and is now developing and writing her own projects for television and film.

As well as screenwriting, Charlotte produced Sarah Pinborough’s Paramount+ 6-part series Insomnia for Left Bank Pictures. She has worked across the television industry for many years serving as Co-Producer on the final series of Killing Eve and working as Script Executive on Unforgotten Series 4 and Gold Digger.
