Jonathan Phillips is a talented and experienced drama producer, having worked in the industry for over two decades. He has worked on psychological thrillers such as Clapperboard’s The Serial Killer’s Wife for Paramount+ and Sony Television and The Love Rat for Channel 5, and has a lot of experience shooting overseas. Jonathan has also worked extensively as a producer with BBC Continuing Drama on Casualty, Father Brown, Doctors, River City, and Eastenders, and was Executive Producer on CBBC’s The Dumping Ground for a number of years.

Led the team and devised editorial strategy for all aspects of the brand, across TV, iPlayer, website, social media, YouTube, animation, games, marketing and publicity for this award-winning comedy drama, delivering over 100 episodes of the show.
Main duties: overseeing prep and shoot for an hour-long special shot on location in Crete, working with local crew and fixers and some British crew; overseeing recruitment of HODs, directors, writers and cast; signing off on budget, schedule, risk assessment and all aspects of post-production.

Worked with Fremantle’s partner companies within Latin America to identify and develop localisable versions of ‘telenovela’ brands for the European market. Compiled weekly reports on output of Fremantle’s daily serials across Europe.
Developed series (’55 Degrees North’, ‘2000 Acres of Sky’, ‘Tinsel Town’), serials (‘Real Men’) and singles for all BBC channels and for BBC Films. Commissioned writers included: Chris Lang, Tim Prager, Simon Donald, Ashley Pharoah, Niall Leonard, Gregory Burke, Lizzie Mickery, Stephen Greenhorn. Pitched projects to Drama Controller, negotiated development contracts, and managed script team. Co-devised ‘River City’, winning the bid to make it BBC Scotland’s regional soap. Helped run Migrations, a training scheme for BAME writers based in Scotland.
Developed and storylined a daily serial for MTV3 in Finland, working in conjunction with Finnish writers and producers.
