Holly worked in television drama as a Script Editor and Development Executive before deciding to focus on her own writing. She was selected for the Faber Academy novel writing course, where she wrote her young adult debut novel ‘Midnight’s Twins’. This secured her a literary agent at WME and a three-book publishing deal with Hot Key books. She has developed and written two original TV pilots, ‘The Wishes’ and ‘In the Walls’ and is currently working on new series ideas along with writing her debut adult novel, ‘Six Wild Crowns’ which has been acquired by Orbit Books.

‘In the Walls’ is a mix of crime and psychological thriller, set in a block of flats where a local father is murdered and the investigation turns on the other residents. The community is put under strain, as the residents become suspicious of each other and we realise how tangled their lives have become.
When single mother Kelly comes into possession of a necklace that grants wishes, she inadvertently wishes her beloved daughter out of existence. She must navigate her ex-husband’s dysfunctional family politics in order to get her daughter back
A play about post-natal depression and the masochism of perfectionism, in development with theatre director Rebecca Atkinson-Lord. When Amanda’s father dies, she takes an antique doll, Mia, from his attic. But when strange things start happening to Amanda, she begins to question whether something malicious is at play.
Novels
Debut adult novel, the first book in a trilogy that reimagines the Tudor queens with an exciting fantasy twist. Publication is planned for Spring 2025.
‘Midnight’s Twins’ is the first in this trilogy, published by Hot Key Books in June 2020. The second book in the series ‘A Gathering Midnight’ was published in 2021 with the final novel, ‘A Midnight Dark and Golden’ published in June 2022.
Editorial Experience
Developed and script edited a wide range of projects at both treatment and script stage. Genres ranged from contemporary sci fi and action to period crime and family singles.
Script edited a provisional second series of Dickensian. Assistant script editor on Death in Paradise Season 4 (BBC1) and literary supervisor on The Passing Bells (BBC1).
Worked for numerous companies on a regular basis, including Working Title (TV and film), the BFI, Ecosse, Pathe, New Pictures, Blueprint, Warp, 4Screenwriting, Guiding Lights and Aardman Animation.
